We are lawyers who primarily practice in Washington Pennsylvania, and we have a general practice but focus on Bankruptcy law, Oil and Gas law and Estate, Wills and Trust law.
Our job is to help people with their legal problems, and listen to their problems with attention and compassion. We give people advice, communicate for people, represent them in court, and mediate disputes. We usually try to find solutions for legal disputes without going to court, and if that doesn't work then we do our best to advocate our client's position in court. Our goal is to use the legal system to help the people it should be working for, and to make sure that the system is not abused to hurt people.
We firmly believe that as lawyers representing individual people primarily - we don't have a lot of big corporations or companies as clients - it is extremely important to provide quality customer service to our clients. In addition to knowing the laws and legal procedure, we strive to communicate with our clients effectively and keep them as informed and educated as possible about the legal process and their legal matters.
Our law firm is based in downtown Washington, Pennsylvania, which is approximately 30 miles south of Pittsburgh. We also practice from Cranberry Township, PA, in Butler County, which is north of Pittsburgh. With these bases of operation, we practice in Pennsylvania state courts in several counties in Western Pennsylvania, including Washington, Allegheny (Pittsburgh), Butler, Beaver, Westmoreland, and Greene County. We are also licensed to practice in Federal Court, which is located in downtown Pittsburgh. Attorney Morascyzk is licensed to practice in West Virginia as well as Pennsylvania. About Our Practice:
Our practice is a general practice, meaning that we practice law in several different areas. Both attorneys are knowledgeable in all of the areas listed below, but their primary practice areas are listed as follows:
Attorney Joe Morascyzk:
Joe is focusing a great deal of his practice on mineral rights law, and helping people with oil and gas law issues and with negotiation of oil and gas leases in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Joe has been working more specifically with Marcellus Gas drilling related issues since leasing and drilling activity became more prominent in Washington County in 2007. Joe's practice also includes consumer bankruptcy practice, and our office operates as a debt relief agency, helping people to file for relief under the bankruptcy code. We file Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases, and help people with defense on debt collection cases and with out-of-court debt settlement strategies. Additionally, Joe has experience with business incorporation, real estate transactions, defending Driving Under the Influence and criminal cases, as well as family law.
Attorney Jake Polochak:
Quite a bit of Jake's practice focuses on estate planning and probate law, which includes drafting wills, trusts, powers of attorney and living wills to help people to have their affairs in order prior to death, and probating and administrating estates after a person has died. Jake is also knowledgeable in the field of oil and gas law. Jake has a lot of experience with civil litigation, which would include cases involving personal injury, property damage, discrimination and labor disputes, such as unemployment compensation and sexual harassment. Jake also has experience with cases which involve Driving Under the Influence and criminal defense, and the resolution of tax matters.
